Neve e Gelato!

Sunday's are always my lazy days. All the stores are closed today, unfortunately. Which would be really helpful because I need groceries and stuff. But anyway, I haven't updated in a while so here is what happened the last few days.

First of all, it snowed! I was on my way to aperitivo with Matina and our Australian friends when it started and it stuck for quite a while. By the way, aperitivo is like happy hour. You buy one drink, usually around 6/9 Euro and then you get to eat as much food as you'd like. Its a great deal if you find the right place. But anyway, as you may have already guessed, snow = snowball fight!

We got gelato last night at this great place called Grom. They have THE MOST delicious gelato ever. I had two flavors, Dark Chocolate and Yogurt with homemade whip cream on top. So tasty!

I moved in with Matina yesterday! So now we're roommates and the new Romanian girl is going to take my place upstairs with Madalina and Aubrae. Another girl is on her way, but I dont know where from. I talked to Amanda the other day on facebook. She said that she and her fiance are having some financial issues which needed to be sorted out so that's why she left. I wish her the best. I think she would have done really well here.

Anyway, tomorrow will be a major grocery day for both Matina and me. And of course, more castings! Wish me luck!

Amo l'Italia!

Busy week this week! Sorry for not posting anything. I've been running around the city going to castings all week. Got a few call backs! Im pretty happy about that. There is a client that's interested in using me for a hair show. So we'll see how that goes.

I met some Australian exchange students that are living in my hotel. They're so great! Awesome personalities and they're all really sweet. Matina and I have been hanging out with them alot. I keep forgetting my camera but I'll post a few photos of them later on in this post. Im also moving into Matina's room this weekend! Nathalia is moving out and going back to Brazil. Next week, two new girls are coming in. One from Romania and I dont remember where the other girl is from.

Tomorrow I need to get groceries and do my laundry. The freaking washing machine at the hotel has been broken all week so Im completely out of clean clothes. Aubrae found a laundromat so I have to lug all my stuff there tomorrow to clean it. Oh well.

Okay, time for some photos :]

Supermodels

"The reason why they are Supermodels is often forgotten. They are not necessarily super just because of their looks, but because they are incredible performers in front of the camera. Being a photographer is easy when you work with a Supermodel." --Solve Sundsbo

I found out today from Matina that Amanda went back to Arizona last night. Im not sure of the reason why, but she left very abruptly. Maybe there must be some kind of emergency at home. But Im really hoping that everything is okay with her.

I had quite a few good castings today. Two were for runway, three were for magazine editorials and the last was for a hair product campaign. Im not sure how all of them will turn out in the end, but as always, I hope I booked one of them.

Oh, I made it to all of my castings by myself today! I only got a little lost this time. Im finally getting the hang of navigating the city.

Euro, Euro, Euro

So I've noticed that the cost of living in Italy is ridiculously expensive. I've spent so much money already and I've only been here for 5 days. I guess alot of it is just to settle in and get started. Im hoping that things will go much more smoothly from here on out. I've been really stressed lately.

As for today, I had four castings. One of which I was too tall for. I dont know why, but Im having more problems here, in regards to my height, than I did in Asia. I have 7 castings tomorrow and Im hoping those go well. I haven't booked a job yet, but then again, I've only been to two days worth of castings.

It was a long day today and Im completely exhausted. I'll sleep really well tonight, thats for sure.

I Didnt Get Lost Today!

My big accomplishment for today, I DID NOT GET LOST. I made it to all of my castings on time. Mostly because I traveled with Madalina today. And Im proud to say that Im learning a little bit of Italian as well.

I had four castings today. Three of them were for shows/showcases and the other one was for some kind of photo shoot. I know for a fact that I didnt book two of the shows (The shoes were too small or my measurements werent what they were looking for). The other two, however, went alot better. I had a pretty good feeling about the photo shoot. The clients seemed really interested. Even though I really had no clue what they were saying. Im just hoping that I booked at least one job today.

Im still trying to find a cheap way to pay for internet (The hotel charges way too much). Wind is a phone carrier here. Their internet jack costs about 40 euro and the service costs 50 cents an hour. I talked to Aubrae about it and she said Vodafone is a little bit better. I'll have to check that out a soon as I can. All I know is I cant go on without internet!

I heard rumors that Chris Brown was in town this weekend. Apparently some of the models got to meet him at some club.

I think that's it for today. Tomorrow is another day of castings so I'll let you know how that goes. Ciao!

Monumento del Cimitero

I actually went outside today! Aubrae and I took a walk to the grocery store this morning only to find that it was closed. On the way there, she had told me about a beautiful cemetery right down the street so we decided to go and take a look. It was gorgeous! Its amazing to see such intricate detail in the architecture. Its a very large cemetery and many many people are buried there. Some were even born in the 1700's! My camera battery was dying so I wasn't able to take as many photos as I wanted to. But here are a few of them.

Im definitely going to go back every Sunday morning! Its beautiful and very peaceful. I'll post some more photos then, too.

After that, we went to a little cafe and had some coffee. Aubrae got a cappuccino and I got an espresso. It was very strong! But after you add a little bit of sugar it's really tasty :]

More to come soon. Tomorrow is another big day full of castings. I just hope I don't get lost again! Im sticking with my roommates all day so that doesn't happen!

Relaxation

Spent the day at home today. After yesterday's ordeal I was reluctant to go out again. But tomorrow I'll venture into the city again to run a few errands.

Short post today, but I did want to share my roommates portfolios!

Perso (Lost)

This morning, Madelina walked me to the agency so I wouldn't get lost. I met Daniel and Valentina, two of my bookers. After filling out paper work I got my new portfolio as well as a list with 8 castings that I needed to go to. I had missed the first three due to the meeting with my agency so I that left me with 5. I decided to try and tackle the hardest one in terms of location. Big mistake. I ended up getting so lost that I took two of the same trains/buses in both directions. I couldn't find anything on my map and after two hours of searching I decided to call it quits and go back to the hotel. By that time it was already 5pm and I was frozen through. I did manage to make it back before it got dark. Unfortunately, I didn't make it to any of my castings today. Not one. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Luckily the weekend is here so I can try to find my way around without having to worry about being somewhere.

I did manage to see the giant cathedral at Piazza Del Duomo. It's absolutely gorgeous.

I Finally Made It!

Im actually in Milan now, a day later than I had originally planned. My flight was canceled at the Heathrow airport due to bad weather conditions. So I had to wait for my baggage for about 5 hours. There were so many canceled flights that everyone's luggage got mixed up. I was told that I needed to rebook a flight for the next day and then get a hotel voucher for the night. 3 hours of waiting and a bus ride later I finally made it to my hotel on to wait in line again for 2 hours to check in. I was dead tired when I made it to my room, but the hotel gave me a very nice suite and complimentary breakfast the next morning. All in all, my experience in London wasnt too bad (except for all the waiting!) .

I caught my flight into Milan this afternoon and then went straight to my apartment to unpack. Madelina is my roommate from Romania and Aubrey is from Fortworth Texas. Tomorrow I'm going to the agency to meet all of my bookers and get down to business! I cant wait to see what it's like here. All I know is Im starving for some really great Italian pasta!

Photos will be posted soon, I promise :]
